How Replace works

Delete image?

Also remove the file(s) from R2 storage. Leave unchecked if an image might still be linked somewhere (avoids a broken link).

Delete album?

Choose what happens to the images in this album:

Keep images — move to Unassigned
Images stay in the library; album is removed. Delete all 0 images
Permanently removes every image in this album.

Also remove the file(s) from R2 storage. Leave unchecked if an image might still be linked somewhere (avoids a broken link).

Manage Tags

The controlled vocabulary the AI tagging run draws from. Edit a tag's guidance to tune how the AI applies it — changes take effect on the next run, no deploy needed. Toggle AI off to keep a tag for manual/search use but exclude it from AI tagging.

Edit Tags

Remove tags shared across your selection, or add new tags to every selected image. Nothing changes until you click Apply.

AI Tagging & Descriptions

Claude looks at each image and applies tags from the controlled vocabulary (so no synonyms creep in) plus a short description. Runs on untagged images first, so you can re-run to chip through a large album.

Resolver Safety Filters

These govern automatic image picks — the ones the site makes for goal pages, program cards and emails when nobody chose a photograph by hand. They apply to library-wide search and to the house fallback pool. Images chosen from a course's own shoot album are never filtered. Both are on by default; turning one off takes effect on the next request.

Usage-rights filter

Only use images we know we have the rights to — shot by Commune, curated as house imagery, or licensed. Excludes event photography (a room of attendees who signed nothing) and images with no provenance recorded at all. About 7,700 of 23,600 images are held back when this is on.

Named-person guard

Keep recognisable faces from standing in for someone they are not. When a slot is about a specific person, an identifiable face may only come from that person's own shoot. When a slot is about nobody in particular, images where no one is identifiable are preferred — a tiebreak between equally good matches, never at the cost of a better one.
